Mary-Jo Wilson began a writing career when working for the Australian News and Information Bureau in New York in 1961. She worked in London for an advertising agency and then, when she settled in Sydney, she won press and radio advertising awards, and contributed to a book on advertising. Wilson joined News Limited in 1970 and worked on promotional journalism for the Daily Mirror and The Australian. She has also written for radio and television.
