BiographyHistory

Margaret Linden was the daughter of concert pianist and composer Otto Linden, author of Wagner and His Works (Melb., 1885). Born in Melbourne, she was an actor from an early age and appeared in plays in many parts of Australia, before moving to USA in 1917. In America she continued her acting career and also worked in the film industry. She co-wrote (with John Colton) the screenplay of Under Capricorn (1949), based on the 1937 novel by Helen Simpson (q.v.) and directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
