Eliza Humphreys spent five years as a child in Australia before returning to England at the age of fourteen. As well as working in the genres of autobiography and editing, she wrote sixty novels, with Sheba : A Study of Girlhood, and The Countess Pharamond being the only ones with an established Australian connection, although there may be Australian references in the others.
