BiographyHistory

Ruby Pemberton Lemont's first home was in Worcestershire. Her father was the English critic E. L. Pemberton. She went to boarding school in London, followed by an academy in Germany and a 'finishing school' in Paris. She travelled widely and settled in Sydney with her husband E. C. Lemont, a well-known architect. According to a biographical statement in The Opinion (July-August 1935, p. 31) she wrote another novel, A Modern Divorce, and prepared a book of vivid memoirs entitled Under Many Governments. Lemont and her husband were patrons of Australian literature and she was a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers.
