BiographyHistory

Matilda Goldstraw was the wife of Frank Goldstraw (headmaster of Wesley College, Melbourne and, later, founder of Toorak Grammar School). Born Matilda Broadbent, she started teaching at Ballarat at 13, married Joseph Dixie when she was just 17 and was widowed before she turned 21. She married Goldstraw when she was 36. Her one novel Milliara was published under the pseudonym Noel Hope.
