Vivienne Rae-Ellis is a Tasmanian-born writer who had a varied career as a professional actress, newspaper columnist, radio script-writer and public relations officer before she began writing books. She has published extensively including Lively libraries (1975), a handbook for librarians, biographies, novels and children's fiction as well as film, television and radio scripts. She was a member of the Launceston Players. Rae-Ellis has lived in Bath, England since 1986 and has been a keen advocate of urban conservation there. Since 2003 she has been researching the social history of The Circus, a famous example of Georgian architecture in Bath, during the period 1760-1780
