BiographyHistory

Marian Allen was the daughter of George Boyce Allen, an Australian lawyer. She moved to England with her family probably in the early 1900s. At first she lived in Oxford, but later moved to London. In addition to illustrating her own books, Allen illustrated a number of titles by other authors (e.g. Compton Mackenzie's Santa Claus in Summer, 1931) and she also contributed to a number of annuals, including Joy Street and The Musical Box Annual.
