BiographyHistory

John Wood was born in Scotland, and brought up by foster-parents. He grew up in poverty, finishing school and beginning work at the age of ten. In 1912 he arrived in Brisbane, and shortly afterwards moved to Rockhampton, where he began work as a window cleaner. He wrote many books about political and social issues, most of them under the pseudonym 'John O'Rockie'.
