Wichert was the son of Frederic A. Wichert. He was educated at Kiata State School, Victoria and the Technical College, Western Australia. He also attended the Baptist College in that state. Wichert April 20, 1908 in Narrogin, West Australia was a Baptist minister for fourteen years and edited the Baptist Record 1900-1914. He was appointed minister at the Seaton Park Baptist Church in 1949. Wichert married on 20 April 1908 in Narrogin, West Australia.
Wichert compiled The 'Silver Mirror' : (The official souvenir of the Back to Broken Hill Jubilee Celebration September 5-12, 1933) and had four poems in Rhymes and Reveries (1938) by the Barrier Bards. He is also reported to have written or contributed to a book of poems called The Quest prior to 1939.
