BiographyHistory

A highly-regarded pioneer of animation in Australia, Eric Porter's started out his career as a comic book illustrator. In 1930 he formed Eric Porter Studios and went on to produce numerous animated short films until the 1980s. His production Marco Polo Jnr versus the Red Dragon (1972) was Australia's first animated feature. Later in his career he became a feature film producer and director, as well as producing documentaries, animated commercials and animated films for television. He also provided some animation for the classic Australian feature film Jedda.
