The Rev'd William Marshal Teape, of Trinity College Cambridge, published on Hinduism and Christianity, and left a bequest for the founding of a lecture series (the Cambridge Teape Lectures) to be delivered in alternate years at Cambridge University (U.K.) and St. Stephen's College, Delhi.

He travelled in the Middle East, publishing Through the Holy Land: being jottings from a diary of travel through Judæa, Samaria, Galilee, and the mountains of Lebanon (1895) and visited Australia. Records at St Mary's Anglican Church, Penola in South Australia, show him to have been ministering in that church between 1889 and 1991 as the Priest in Charge, South East Mission (a Church of England mission district extending from Meningie to Mount Gambier, 1855-1898). He published verse about life in the South East of South Australia, and a pamphlet on the pioneer Christopher Sharam.
