BiographyHistory

Ronald Geering was born in England and migrated to Australia nine years later, living first in Sydney and then at Ballata in the Moree district. Geering was educated at the Armidale School, graduated in Arts from the University of Sydney in 1940 (where he was the recipient of the University Medal) and gained a Dip. Ed. from Sydney Teachers' College. Geering taught at Mullumbimby and Gunnedah before joining the army in 1943. After World War II, Geering taught at the University of New South Wales, also completing his MA at that institution.

Geering was the literary executor for Christina Stead and had an extended involvement with the English Association in Sydney. Geering donated the majority of his library to the University of Western Sydney.
