Hector Wilshire wrote a number of school text books, including Essentials of French Grammar for Junior Classes (1905), Graded French Reader for Junior Classes (1918) and French Grammar and Exercises for Junior Forms (1918). These are held at the Mitchell Library, Sydney. He also published an article, 'The Two Paths', in the January 1927 edition of the Australian Theosophist magazine. In his selected work Happy Days, two other undated works are listed: Essential Principles of Written and Spoken English (held at the Mitchell Library, Sydney) and A Brief Introduction to Unlook (Suggested World-language), which has not been traced.
'The author is an M.A. of Sydney University with first class honours and scholarships and medals in French and German. He holds phonetic diplomas of the International Language Association in English, French and German; the Diplome Superieur d'Enseignement of the Alliance Francais, Paris; and matriculation diploma in Russian language. He was censor of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in world war I and monitor in world war II.' Happy Days (p.3)
