Charles Perryman served in World War I with naval forces and with the Army Medical Corps. He was a lighthouse keeper at Cape Willoughby in 1935. He studied art and did work in black and white. E. Morris Miller, Australian Literature from Its Beginnings to 1935 (1973) indicates that he contributed to Pearson's Magazine, Forerunner, Ornithologist, The Advertiser and other journals. He also published poems and drawings in the form of greeting cards for his friends. Several of the poems were included in his Memories and Melodies.
