George Mollison enlisted in August 1914, serving in the 6th Infantry Battalion. He was severely wounded at Gallipoli, and after spending time in hospitals in Egypt and London he was repatriated in December 1915, apparently spending some years in hospital after his return. He later published the patriotic verse he had written during this time as an invalid.
