BiographyHistory

The author is believed to be Richard Wolfenden Mathews, who was married at Burra Mine in 1882 (the year his book was published at the former town of Kooringa, near Burra in the mid-north of South Australia). Although details of his death have not been confirmed, a Richard W. Mathews died in Walgett in 1903, aged 60, which would correspond with the author's presumed age at that time.
