BiographyHistory

Leigh was ship's surgeon on the South Australian which berthed at Kangaroo Island on 22nd April 1837. On his return to England he published the travel book Reconnoitering Voyages and Travels (1839), which related his impressions (largely unfavourable) and his experiences in the new Australian colonies, especially Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, and Sydney.
