BiographyHistory

Henry Lapham was a New Zealand schoolteacher. However, he was almost certainly born in Australia and spent some time on the Victorian goldfields. He was the brother of and collaborated with Susan Nugent Wood (q.v.), who was 16 years older than him, if his year of birth was 1852, as Bagnall suggests. The Lapham family lived in Tasmania and Susan's birth and that of several other siblings, including Charles Henry Lapham (b. Spring Bay, Tas., 1847) is recorded in the Colonial Tasmanian Family Links database. Strangely, Henry's birth is not recorded, unless, of course, he was Charles Henry Lapham.
