BiographyHistory

Born in India, Samuel Nisbet Hogg, son of Dr Thomas Alexander Hogg and grandson of Rev. William Pascoe Crook, arrived in Sydney at an early age. After his education at Rev. John Pendrill's School, Glebe Point, he joined the Bank of New South Wales and worked as a bank manager in Balmain for 25 years. He was the honorary treasurer of the Balmain Hospital and Benevolent Society, member of the Pioneers' Club and also for some time, President of the Sydney Unitarian Church.

He wrote extensively for various financial papers.
