Nelle Grant Cooper's earliest work was a play called The Little Nations, written in 1915 when she was thirteen years old and performed at a private fundraiser for the Belgian Fund ('Patriotic Funds', Sunday Times, 14 March 1915, p.7).

Nelle Grant Cooper's niece was actor Lesley Piddington, who was later part of the husband-and-wife mind-reading duo The Piddingtons.
