BiographyHistory

Sydney Miller was an Australian cartoonist and comic artist who created newspaper comic strips for 'Sunbeams' (a supplement to the Sydney Sun) as well as for the Bulletin, the Daily Telegraph, the Melbourne Herald and Smith's Weekly. He was the creator of Chesty Bond. Miller drew some of the first animated cartoons made commercially in Australia and worked in film and television before his retirement. Miller also illustrated Funny Farmyard : Nursery Rhymes and Painting Book (1933) which contains poems by Kenneth Slessor (q.v.).
