BiographyHistory

Charles Bull was the inaugural President of the NSW Branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia from 1945 to 1952 and made a major contribution towards the establishment of Children's Book Week. Bull began his career as a teacher. He taught at Guildford Grammar in WA and later moved to Melbourne where he became Senior English Master at Geelong Grammar School. He became involved in educational broadcasting and held positions on the Victorian Educational Broadcasts Advisory Committee and in Youth Education in the Australian Broadcasting Commission. He was appointed Director of Education for the ABC in 1955.
