BiographyHistory

J. S. Berry came to Australia when she was 18 years old, to join her mother, who had remarried and was living in Queensland. She initially lived on a small farm with her mother and step-father, possibly at Tingalpa, near Brisbane. She married Joseph Berry at Tingalpa in 1875, and then lived in a number of Queensland country towns and metropolitan centres, where her husband was manager of the Queensland National Bank - including Beenleigh, Cunnamulla, and Charleville. She made at least one return visit to England, and was still living in the Brisbane suburb of Windsor in the late 1930s. She appears to have been known by the name 'Jessie'. Further biographical details are yet to be established.
