Lady Edyth Bavin was the wife of New South Wales M.L.A. and Premier, Sir Thomas Rainsford Bavin. She was a well-known writer of short stories, sketches, and children's verse. Several of the poems in her published book, Baby Ballads, were set to music by Mrs. Cyril Monk. Bavin also wrote the play 'The Tears of the Virgin' which was performed in Sydney in the 1930s.
