After visiting the Kimberleys, Pamela Lofts adapted, retold and illustrated Aboriginal Dreaming stories told to her by George Mung Mung Lirrmiyarri, Daisy Utemorrah and other Aboriginal storytellers. In 2009, Lofts commented: 'The books have now been selling for over 25 years, and without exception, each of the custodians and storytellers and their families are very proud of the books and the niche that they fill in providing culturally appropriate early literacy material for Indigenous children, as well as exposing non Indigenous children to some of the richness of Aboriginal culture through storytelling. The authors and/ or schools involved still receive 50% of the royalites.'
Lofts has given Australian animals a humorous character in her illustrations to work by Marcia Vaughan and Mem Fox.
