BiographyHistory

Savvas Zoumis-Parianos was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1925. His mother was from Naples, Italy and his father from the island of Paros (Cyclades), Greece. In 1943 he joined the Greek Air Force and served in the Middle East and in Italy. He arrived in Australia in 1955 and lives in Melbourne where he has worked as an electronics mechanic and as an interpreter. In 1968 was appointed as a Migrant liaison officer at the Commonwealth Bank. In 1996 he earned a B.A. in Greek - Italian, at Monash University. He has written poetry since 1970 and has published two collections, one of which is titled Tes psyhes t'anavlyteri. He has published poetry in Australian newspapers and periodicals. Sometimes he uses the pseudonym 'Parianos.'
