BiographyHistory

Juozas Almis Juragis worked in Lithuania as circulation manager of a Catholic monthly magazine. In Australia he worked first on building the Warragamba Dam and later as a publisher with Compress Printing. He began writing at an early age and by 1939 his poetry had been published in several newspapers and journals in Lithuania. He resumed writing in Australia in 1948, when the first Lithuanian newspapers began. Between 1965 and 1966 he was the editor of the cultural and literary supplement of Teviakes Aidai.
