Galina Soboleva was born in the Urals, Russia. After the 1917 Revolution she emigrated to Harbin in China with her parents and from there to Australia, where she continued her education at the Sydney Technical College. She worked in the area of commercial art and later became a librarian and held a position in the technical library of a private firm. Her poetry has been read on the Russian language program of Radio 2EA, and has been published in Russian journals in Australia, France, Canada and Belgium. She has written Russkii romans (1980) and Sovremennyi russkii narodnyi khor (1978), both published in Moscow. She has also exhibited watercolours. In 1971 she was living in Sydney.
