BiographyHistory

Adeney was educated at Trinity Grammar School, Kew, Vic., as was Lyle Gilbert (q.v.) who co-authored with Adeney a book of poems Wrought of the Mist (1919). Adeney and Gilbert were early champions of the works of Martin Boyd (q.v.), who had also attended Trinity Grammar. They reviewed his first two novels for the school magazine Mitre and were probably the first to reveal publicly that these novels, written under the pseudonym Martin Mills, were in fact by Boyd.

Adeney studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne and later had a practice in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
