BiographyHistory

Spencer Brodney was of Jewish background and worked extensively abroad as an editor and a journalist. In 1904 he founded the Australian Theatre Society, which was renamed The Playgoers' Club after Brodney had departed for London. The club ceased to exist around 1909.
