BiographyHistory

Alfred Henry Lambton moved to Queensland from Sydney in 1860 and was employed for some time by R. Towns and Co. His wife Eleanor Mary (nee Sykes) joined him after their marriage in December 1875 and they lived on his Selections west of Bowen. They then went north about 1878, leasing a property called 'Alvaleigh' on the coast north of Ayr from ca. July 1880; the property was later purchased by Lambton and he died there in 1894.

According to family records, part of a poem by Lambton entitled 'Northern Queensland: A Sketch' appeared in a church publication entitled The Monthly Record on 31st Oct. 1885. Like his book, it is based on his experiences. This publication has not been traced.
