BiographyHistory

Eduards Silkalns gained a Bachelor of Arts (BA)degree and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree from the University of Melbourne and has worked as a lecturer in Education at the University of Melbourne Institute of Education. Between 1955 and 1974 he wrote poetry and short stories and has contributed articles, reviews and accounts of his frequent travels, to the Latvian press in Australia and overseas. He has been a member of the Latvian Press Society and, in 1990, won a World Association of Free Latvians Letter of Recognition for book reviews published in the Latvian language press over many years.
