BiographyHistory

Journalist/critic with the Australian newspaper. Dying suddenly of a brain haemorrhage, her estate was used to set up the Geraldine Pascall Foundation which administers the Pascall Prize for Critic of the Year. Eight winners contributed to the collection Critical Perspectives edited by Katherine Brisbane which the Foundation co-published with Currency Press.

According to her friend Arian Read 'Geraldine's journalism was informed, intelligent and varied. She wrote powerfully about being female; her interviews were full of insights; she reviewed books, plays and films without caring if she offended...I believe she would approve of what has been done with her estate, although she would been irritated that so many men are involved.'. - Geraldine Pascall Foundation website
