Margaret Pearce has worked as an advertising copywriter, and began writing full-time after receiving a Literature Board Grant in 1980. She holds an Arts Degree from Monash University, and has had her short stories and poetry published in journals and anthologies. During the 1980s she wrote a number of adult science fiction stories under the name A. Pearce.
Pearce has also written readers for children in the Southern Cross (Macmillan) series, including The Weekend of Herman John (1987), The Castle Hill Uprising (1987) and One Day in the Life of a Maidservant (1987). She has also written readers in the Bookshelf, BlitzIt and Crackers series: Marmaduke (1988), Birthday Surprise (1998) and Party Poopers (1999) respectively.
