Paul McGeough has worked as a foreign correspondent for the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald newspapers. In 2004 McGeough was awarded a media peace prize for Best Print from the Australian Division of the United Nations for his coverage of the 2003 war in Iraq. The award recognised a series of articles by McGeough on the aftermath of the war.
In 2010, McGeough's Kill Khalid: Mossad's Failed Hit ... and the Rise of Hamas won two categories in the New South Premier's Literary Awards: the Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction and the Book of the Year. In the same year, he won a Walkley Award for Best Print, Wire Service Journalism: News Report.
