BiographyHistory

Established in 1982, Australasian Drama Studies publishes a fully peer-reviewed journal of the same, comprising articles, interviews, and production casebooks on world theatre by international scholars. The journal also publishes community theatre texts, reviews of scholarly books and play texts, and the transcript of the annual Rex Cramphorn memorial lecture delivered at Belvoir St Theatre, Sydney.

Initially administered by the Department of English (1982-2000) and later by the School of English, Media Studies and Art History (2001-2005) at The University of Queensland, ADS has been affiliated with La Trobe University since 2006. Although there is no official relationship between Australasian Drama Studies (ADS) and the Australasian Drama Studies Association (1977- ), now known as the Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama and Performance Studies (ADSA), the latter organisation has been a sponsor of the Australian Drama Studies journal since 2006.
