BiographyHistory

The printing, publishing and lithography firm A. & W. Bruce developed in Melbourne from a business founded by A. Scott in 1854. The business operated initially at 434 Bourke Street, and then Niagara Lane. It was taken over in 1964 by Progress Press, who moved the equipment and stock to Tudor Street, Burwood. In the 1880s and 90s the output of A. and W. Bruce included some poetry and short stories, some work of Marcus Clarke on behalf of Marian Clarke, and some sheet music with lithographs.
