BiographyHistory

Soho is an independent publisher based in New York. It publishes between sixty and eighty titles in the genres of literary fiction and narrative nonfiction per year. Its imprint Soho Crime publishes thriller and mystery novels set in exotic locations, including several set in Australia. This imprint also reissued crime novels written by Australian women writers of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s such as Charlotte Jay and Patricia Carlon.

The Soho imprint was launched in 1986 by Laura Chapman Hruska, a lawyer and crime novelist who acted as publisher until her death in 2010. She was succeeded by her daughter Bronwen Hruska.
