"...The Henry Lawson Memorial and Literary Society stands primarily for these things:
(1) To perpetuate the memory of Australia's national writer and poet, Henry Lawson, by monthly meetings, and an annual gathering.
(2) To endeavour to secure greater appreciation of native literature.
(3) To foster a definite Australian sentiment and pride in Australian achievement.
Towards these ends, syllabus items on many Australian writers and poets are given before the society during the year."
