BiographyHistory

The printing firm formed by the partnership of Edward Wilson and Lauchlan Mackinnon. The main interest of the firm was the publication of The Argus newspaper, though they were also active as printers of pamphlets and other general work, particularly in the 1860s and 70s.

The firm, still known as Wilson & Mackinnon, was owned by the families of the original partners after their deaths in 1878 and 1888 respectively. They continued printing and publishing The Argus until the company Argus & Australasian Pty Ltd was incorporated to take over the business in 1937.
