BiographyHistory

Charles Tilt was a successful Fleet Street bookseller who began publishing in 1826. Tilt's publications were known for their lavish illustrations and novel formats. He published gift books, almanacs, and annuals, including Comic Annual and Comic Almanack.

After David Bogue joined as a partner in 1840, the firm was known as Tilt and Bogue. By 1860 the imprint was owned by W. Kent and Company.
