BiographyHistory

'Rolf Henkl, or Hennequel (1892-1971) was a Viennese-born linguist who settled in Launceston in 1952. He established the Wattle Grove Press to publish his own work and that of young Australian writers. Among those he published were Rodney Hall and Dorothy Hewitt. As well as Australian authors, Wattle Grove Press also published American author Howard Mitcham's selected work, Four Tales from Byzantium [1964?]. There is no evidence to indicate that Mitcham spent time in Australia.

A collection that includes the thirty publications of the Wattle Grove Press as well as other published and manuscript items by, or owned by, Rolf Hennequel, is held by the State Library of Tasmania.'
