BiographyHistory

The printing firm Edgerton and Moore was formed around 1888 when Charles Edgerton took over the business Fergusson and Moore, in Flinders Lane, in Melbourne. Edgerton completed a compositing apprenticeship with the firm, then became an overseer, then a partner, and finally, with the death of Alex Moore, son of a founder, sole owner.

In 1897 a fire destroyed the premises, which were replaced by a four-story building.

Charles Edgerton was succeeded in the business by his son, Charles William Edgerton, and ultimately by his grandson, Geoff Edgerton. The firm relocated to 715 Burwood Road, East Hawthorn.
