BiographyHistory

The University of Central Queensland replaced the University College of Central Queensland in 1992, after achieving official University status. The University changed its name in 1994 to Central Queensland University (CQU).

Since its founding in 1993, the CQU Press has offered less traditional university press fare by concentrating on regional (decentralised Queensland and Outback Australia) literature, art, history and heritage through its imprint, Old Silvertail's Outback Books. Such a publishing commitment has ensured its success. By October 2006 the Press has marketed over 180 books and averaged a gross yearly turnover of more than half a million dollars in book sales (Campus Bookseller and Publisher October 2006)
