BiographyHistory

A publishing venture established by Tom Thompson , the Angrier Penguins Press aimed to provide 'a forum for all those writers who in one way or another are out of step. It is dedicated to anti-conformism' (qtd. by Heather Cam, Sydney Morning Herald 24 September 1994, p. 12A). The press's inaugural publication was a collection of poems by the fictitious poet Mort Brandish. While employed as literary publisher at Angus & Robertson, Thompson had worked on an edition of the works of another fictitious poet, Ern Malley.
