John Kelly, Q.C., was educated in Queensland and worked in the public service, and as a lawyer and judge in the Federal Court of Australia and in the ACT Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory. He served in the Royal Australian Air Force and in the army reserve. In retirement he studied towards a Baccalaureate in Theology.
