Lin Bloomfield was the daughter of a NSW school teacher and lived variously in Maitland, Kempsey, Dubbo and Parkes during her childhood years. After finishing school at Parkes High School, Bloomfield received a scholarship and successfully matriculated. She continued her studies at Armidale Teachers College before marrying in 1953.
In the early 1970s, Bloomfield moved to Sydney with her daughters and started Bloomfield Galleries which was initially located in Crows Nest and then, from 1975-1994, in Paddington. From 1995-1999 the Gallery operated from North Sydney before being re-located to Bungendore in southern NSW in 2000.
Lin Bloomfield inherited the copyright to the etchings of Norman Lindsay from Lindsay's daughter, Jane Glad, in 2000.
