BiographyHistory

Arriving in Australia at the age of seventeen, Philip Lorimer went overlanding in Queensland for several years. From 1870-1884 he worked in Sydney, then took to the bush, wandering through New South Wales and Victoria, repaying hospitality by writing verses. He was known to many as 'Old Phil the Poet'. After his death his sister commissioned a volume of his poems, with a biographical sketch by E. A. Petherick.
