BiographyHistory

Primarily an actor and producer, Jubal also trained in Vienna under Max Reinhardt as a theatre director, and founded the Modern Theatre Movement. He visited the U.S.S.R. and eventually left Vienna in 1938 as a refugee. On his arrival in Australia, speaking little English, he worked as a factory hand and cook. However, he produced some plays in Yiddish at the Kadimah Theatre in Melbourne and also worked with the Rana Theatre Group.
