BiographyHistory

Eldest son of Henry Arthur Hambidge and his wife Elizabeth, George Hambidge started writing when he was about fifteen years old, and had poetry published in several newspapers and journals, including The Bulletin, the South Australian Register and the Adelaide Observer. He began studying for a degree in Law at the University of Adelaide, then enlisted in the Infantry in World War I, dying of battle wounds at Amiens in 1918. A selection of his verse was published posthumously.
He was the nephew of the Hambidge sisters (artists), Alice, Millie and Helen.
